Roundup 2001 Tessa was on hand to welcome all her children and grandchildren at her 2nd Annual Family Reunion. Of course being Tessa, once she greeted everyone and approved of them, she was quite content to just sit back and watch everything from her own little nook. But that's Tessa! She is not a "Martha Stewart' when it comes to hosting an event but we forgive her for that and just let her do her own thing. After all, she is Tessa, Queen of the Kennels!!!! Asti's mom brought some of his agility equipment along so that he, his 'sister' Destina and their cousin Dante, could show off just a wee bit! Asti is a real pro at this agility thing. They really seemed to enjoy showing their country bumpkin cousins just 'how things are done' in the agility ring. It was fun to see such a large dog as Asti (Asti is Tessa's largest offspring as far as I can tell.), make it through that tunnel. Dante and Destina jumped the hurdles like pros. They all made it look so easy, that Mike decided to try his had at it with some of his dogs. Mike didn't quite get the hang of running a short distance with them first so Marge took over. She got each dog she worked with to jump the hurdles after a few attempts and the doggies seemed to love it. Ecco's and Gino's handlers also made successful jumps and had fun doing it. When Diva arrived, she had to try it too! Then it was time for the country cousins, hunters by trade, to show their stuff. Bosco and Arno did a fine presentation of pointing a bird in the bush. Both males have excellent hunting skills and went into beautiful points which got the on-lookers from the city wondering if their dogs could do the same. So of course, we had to try. Mike, using a 40 foot lead, brought each dog into the scenting cone. You could see them pick up the scent in the air and get right on it. When a point was established, a slight tug on the lead brought each of the 'city slickers' into a solid first point. It was a great show of just how versatile the Spinoni really is....from agility to obedience to the field. No matter what you ask of them, they will do it. It's the handlers role to get the dog to perform and perform they will. We were provided with some very nice points and many 'Kodak' moments which you can view in the photos below. Tessa would like to thank all the folks who came, for bringing her off-spring together once again. It is so interesting and exciting to see how each dog is progressing and developing. We look forward to seeing more of them next year. If you have a Grouse Rouster dog, please mark the 3rd Saturday in June on your calendars now! Thanks to Ecco's mom for providing us with digital photos and the video clips to get this page started. Will be adding more as we get them developed the old fashioned way. |
