.....an avid
bird hunter and woodsman. The large photo on the right shows Whorf in a
setting he dearly loved. Hunting was the best part about being a dog! Ron
trained him, his first Spinone, to run in NAVHDA competition; they both
did a super job. Of course, we were all there to cheer him on.
As with many
Spinoni, Whorf was a rarity in the north woods of Wisconsin. Everywhere he
went, people were curious about the breed. He even made local news in a
hunting journal "Wishigan Outdoors" during his 1999 season. Ron
hunts an area blessed with ruffed grouse and Whorf knew exactly what to do
to get them up.
He was a
terrific hunting dog and a cherished pet! We are so sorry for Ron
and Carol's loss.
As true
Spinone people, they've taken on a new Spinone pup from our 2005 litter, Jaffa. |

"We
really miss Whorf! I especially missed him during a pheasant hunt in Feb.
when I had to hunt with a yellow lab that was not trained well enough to
be kept under control. My hound (Doc) did a better job staying close and
flushing birds within range of the gun. Doc does his best to keep us busy.
It's amazing all the things Doc had learned from Whorf. Plenty of them I
wish he wouldn't have!"
