Is a Spinone the right breed of dog for you?

Wisconsin Italian Spinone Club

The Italian Spinone is a versatile hunting dog, especially suited for upland game and water fowl. They are a close working breed, methodical and thorough in their search patterns. Their large noses pick up scent quite readily, making it an excellent tracking dog. It's fun to watch them track a duck through water, or point a bird up in a tree! The Spinone is an easy dog to train for the field, or anything else for that matter, as they are eager to please. Their 'soft' point and 'soft' mouth speaks to the nature of the dog.

This hunting breed is becoming more and more popular in the USA as a household pet too, because they are so good natured inside the home. They can be a real 'couch potato' when taken in to sit by the fire.

They are very loving and enjoy being with people. In 2000, the Spinoni achieved their own status in AKC's Sporting Group and  have been nicely represented in the show ring. Some owners enjoy doing agility with their dog, or using them as a therapy dog
